								<description>Big Rapids, Michigan,  The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. The candidate will be expected to develop in the areas of patient care, didactic teaching, advising, scholarly/professional activities, and service and will be responsible for teaching primarily in clinic, with additional responsibilities in the laboratory and classroom. &#8226; Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students; faculty are expected to be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment. &#8226; Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement. &#8226; Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and be willing to mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role. &#8226; In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees. &#8226; Online teaching could be required but primarily, courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University&#39;s Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at the Big Rapids location. The anticipated start date for the position the Fall of 2026. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. At the time of appointment, the applicant must hold the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. Applicant must have completed a residency or other graduate degree in vision science or other healthcare discipline. If candidate does not have additional certification or degree, equivalent experience in patient care or healthcare education will be considered. 
 At least one year of residency experience, or 3 years of consistent clinical experience post-graduation if no residency was completed, or commensurate work/professional experience. 
 At the time of appointment, the applicant must have or be eligible to obtain a Michigan optometry license with DPA and TPA certifications, and be eligible for appointment to the clinical staff of the college. The applicant must have a Michigan license prior to starting clinical care. $100,000-$109,999 Assistant Professor, $110,000-$112,000 Associate Professor.  QUALIFICATIONS: &#xa0; 
 This vacancy will require a minimum Doctor of Optometry Degree (O.D.).&#xa0; Residency training in the appropriate areas of specialty or a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Optometrist applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky with expanded therapeutics certification and are expected to participate in patient care services. Prior college teaching experience is strongly preferred.

 Initiate quality assurance concepts with quality assurance committees at training sites. 
 Keep current with emerging trends in clinical education and curriculum development. 
 Arrange and conduct regular meetings of clinical educators to ensure the best student experience. 
 Meet regularly with the Dean to present clinical faculty ideas and concerns. 
 Communicate executive, educational, and administrative goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and concerns to clinical faculty. 
 Educate students on the importance of diverse clinical experience. 
 Assist students in maintaining clinical curriculum requirements during absences, public health crises, or other unforeseen circumstances. 
 Develop students personally and professionally throughout their clinical optometric education. 
 Schedule student clinic rotations and coordinate make-up work and leaves with the Director of Externship Programs in accordance with KYCO and UPIKE policies. 
 Approve curricular adjustments for students throughout their training. 
 Arrange and conduct meetings with students at key points during their clinical education at KYCO. 
 Review and revise clinical expectation for clinical faculty and students annually.

Position description   The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified health science clinical faculty members at the Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor level to teach in the School of Optometry and Vision Science and/or Berkeley Optometry partner off-campus clinics, should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. The responsibilities of the health science clinical faculty members include teaching optometric student clinicians in the patient care environment, performing direct patient care when student clinicians are unavailable both on or off the UC Berkeley campus, and/or teaching optometric student clinicians the basics of eye examinations sequence in the pre-clinical environment. Position description   The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified health science clinical faculty members at the Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor level to teach in the School of Optometry and Vision Science and/or Berkeley Optometry partner off-campus clinics, should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.   The responsibilities of the health science clinical faculty members include teaching optometric student clinicians in the patient care environment, performing direct patient care when student clinicians are unavailable both on or off the UC Berkeley campus, and/or teaching optometric student clinicians the basics of eye examinations sequence in the pre-clinical environment. They may also perform service to the school and community through education or various outreach programs on or off the UC Berkeley campus.   Appointees will be eligible for advancement through the ranks of the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, based on performance in teaching, professional activity, scholarly and creative activity, and service.   The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science has excellent clinical facilities and a large, diverse patient population. Over 70,000 patient visits are seen annually within our on campus clinic. About 65 optometry students are graduated annually.
