What is VSP’s profit status?
VSP is a tax-paying not-for-profit. This means that VSP pays federal and state taxes, but remains committed to reinvesting excess revenue into the community and the support of optometry. Our commitment to the community is an ...intrinsic part of our business. The corporate bylaws state that “no director, officer, or any private individual shall be entitled to share in the distribution of assets or in any surplus; such surplus, if any, shall be used…exclusively for the promotion of social welfare, including specifically improving and expanding the services…to its subscriber members and others.”
