Greater Los Angeles (GLA) Medical Center in Los Angeles CA is seeking a highly motivated residency-trained Optometrist who will be assigned to the Community-Based Clinic located in Santa Maria, CA. This position reports directly to GLA’s Chief of Optometry.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Scope of Practice:
Provide diagnostic and preventive eye care services to the Veteran population.
Provision of direct optometric specialty care in entry-level low vision care (rehabilitative vision care) and therapeutic contact lens care to Veteran patients.
Ensures quality assurance for the Optometry Section and healthcare delivery by participating in Section, careline, and institutional peer reviews.
Provide accurate and timely completion of clinical records, patient encounters, and other performance standards.
Utilize a team approach to patient care with ophthalmologists, medical staff, rehabilitation staff, ancillary staff, residents, other services, patients, and family members.
Facilitate professional development of personnel within the Section.
Conduct academic lectures; provide Optometry student and resident education and training.

Experience:
Completed a one-year, post-graduate (PGY-1) optometric residency.
Experience in direct education of optometric students and/or residents.
Must be residency trained.
