The University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry welcomes applications, nominations and conversation requests related to the search for positions available as Assistant/Associate Professor of Optometry and Vision Science. As one of the top optometry programs in the nation, the School of Optometry at UAB was the first in the U.S. to be fully integrated into an academic health center. Small classes are embedded within the vast network of academic and clinical resources offered by UAB. Since awarding its first Doctor of Optometry degree in 1973, the UAB School of Optometry has grown to include graduate degrees in vision science and three dual degree programs: OD/MBA, OD/MPH and OD/MS. The School also offers eight residency programs for additional training in optometry with 16 highly competitive spots, all accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. The vision, mission, and goals of the School of Optometry emphasize the quality and meaningful service to humanity that the School and its faculty contribute.
