Description The UC Davis Eye Center is an academic/clinical department consisting of approximately 26 clinical and research faculty, 8 optometrists, 18 residents and clinical fellows, 24 volunteer clinical faculty and 150 academic and staff personnel, with an annual budget of $22 million. The Department's goals and objectives are to achieve excellence in patient care, teaching, research and public service. Patient care must receive the highest priority with the best possible service in all areas of Ophthalmologic care. In addition, the teaching of residents, medical students and postgraduate continuing medical education physicians must be facilitated. PhDs and MDs are joined in mutual research efforts to seek new knowledge in the treatment and prevention of blinding eye disease. All of this is accomplished in the best working environment for all employees.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certificate -Supervisory experience. -Knowledge and keep current of CMS, DHS and Joint Commission regulations, as they apply to the clinic setting. -Knowledge of sterile procedure protocols, handles delicate instruments on and around the eye without causing harm. -Knowledge of California laws that effect the hands-on performance of non-licensed allied health personnel in Ophthalmology. -Knowledge of the workings of ophthalmic equipment, and of new equipment offering new technologies within the scope of Ophthalmology. -Knowledge of safety issues that affect all clinical areas where staff and patients occupy.
PREFERRED -University of California Health System experience.

Responsibilities The Optometry Supervisor is responsible for technical, administrative, financial, research and marketing support. Technical support includes patient work-up and performance of diagnostic studies.
