Oversees the day-to-day activities of the University of Houston's Eye Institute (UHEI). Manages the Optical and clinic business office Revenue Cycle Management.
Oversee the operations of the 3rd party Revenue Cycle Management and credentialing team and UHEI Optical Services.
Assists the Executive Leadership and other stake holders of the UHEI with the assessment, development and implementation of financial services in the UHEI.
Oversee and maintain Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, ensures effective policies and procedures are in place; ensures communication and feedback in regards to billing and coding to clinical faculty, staff, and students, and serves as the point of contact for all EMR related questions and issues.
Assist with patient services, including recruitment, evaluation, training and development of staff; manages front desk operations, including medical records, insurance, and customer service.
In coordination with the Executive and Associate Director, meets with manufactures of contact lenses and glasses, optical labs, and insurance companies to negotiate better pricing and manage contracts on products and services.
Oversee the daily duties of UHEI Opticians, and maintain Optical inventory, analyze and implement sales strategies to increase revenue.
May assist in developing and conducting educational presentations for UHEI clinical faculty staff, students and other stakeholders.
Assists UHEI Leaders to implement strategic marketing and communication plans to promote the UHEI.
Serves as an advisor to the UHEI board of directors and serves on various University of Houston College of Optometry Committees.
Ensures quality standards are maintained, including applicable accreditations and compliance with healthcare regulations; provide advice on changes in regulations and requirements affecting UHEI. Monitors and Reports UHEI production and quality reports; this includes reporting UHEI financials to the UHEI board of directors and other stakeholders and reporting MIPS (Merit-based incentive Payment System), and MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act) to CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). Oversee the implementation of special projects initiated by the Executive Leadership. Performs other job-related duties as required
Bachelors and 7 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Years of job related experience will substitute in Lie of education.
